Outbursts

Jeff,

I think you have a great idea. Where you thinking of a group of amateurs doing continuous draft scans, who could look back at recorded data in hopes of having collected a burst at radio frequency?  I think we should also attempt outbursts associated with AAVSO alerts on supernova, nova, or dwarf nova bursts.  These outbursts stay around for days/weeks, and would be amenable for follow-up radio observations.  Normally stars are weak emmitters in radio frequency, but I am unaware of anyone attemting observations with optical outbursts and follow-up in L-band. SARA has access to the 20m dish at GBO, and several SARA members have access to similar sized radio telescopes.  This would be a good learning exercise to determine what is possible and to develop our skills.  The SARA Sections have posted data templates.  If we can obtain some initial observational data with bursts, those templates can be refined further to help standardize the data that SARA members could collect and post somewhere on the SARA website.

Steve,

Great idea as to uploading / posting idea. I might like to share some of the work / observations on this subject. Again, not getting ahead of myself and no claims are being made but, it seems the events might be more common in numbers of...

Our software developer at RAS, has been working on a new module and SBC combination for faster data processing for trial with FRB type events. More to come on that in the near future.
